A.D.N. Program
The purpose of the Associate Degree Program in Nursing is to provide both a general education in the liberal arts and sciences, and nursing. The A.D. program consists of four academic semesters and includes 31 hours of general education courses and 39 hours credit in nursing courses. Clinical laboratory experiences are based in selected community hospitals and allied health agencies.
LPN-RN Transition
The purpose of the LPN-RN Transition track is to provide upward mobility for qualified Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVN), and Licensed Psychiatric Technician Nurses (LPTN). This separate track option provides the opportunity to complete all requirements for the Associate of Science Nursing Degree. Students may complete the general education course requirements at SAU or any accredited college or university. The LPN-RN Transition Program at SAU consists of three academic semesters. Southern Arkansas University adheres to Arkansas State Board of Nursing Articulation Model.
